TimberTech Buildings consists of a main module and some add-on modules, which can be purchased separately, including the module for Existing buildings and vertical additions, the module for the Fire design of timber structural members, the module for the automatic printing of the Bill of quantities and the module for the Seismic risk classification of construction.
The main characteristics of the additional module for Existing buildings and vertical additions are reported below.
ADD-ON MODULE Existing buildings and vertical additions FEATURES
TimberTech Buildings add-on module Existing buildings and vertical additions allows to evaluate the seismic actions on timber vertical additions by defining a response spectrum in acceleration that considers the altitude amplification and, in a simplified way, the dynamic interaction between the addition itself and its substructure.
The add-on module also allows to define the knowledge level of the structural elements and to carry out safety checks by reducing the values of the mechanical properties of materials with their confidence factor.
For each structural element, the user can easily assign one of the following knowledge levels from the Property inspector:
- KL1 – limited knowledge (CF=1.35)
- KL2 – normal knowledge (CF=1.20)
- KL3 – full knowledge (CF=1)
- new.
In this way it is possible to model a structure considering different confidence factors between the single elements depending on the knowledge level. The user can easily monitor the assigned knowledge levels through the display function in Color for Properties of the View tab.
The software automatically calculates reduced values of mechanical properties in accordance with EN 1998-3. At the end of the analysis process, the software can export a calculation report in Word format including all the details of the performed checks.
